Oh my God! You just described me to a T. Is it 'cause we were in the borg? Or are we just too damn open?

Are you an open person?
by JH ini was just wondering, are you the type of person that will give out all kinds of information on yourself, talk about anything to anyone just like an open book, or are you the type that says the least possible about yourself and often just answsers by yes or no when a stranger talks to you?.
i'm the type of peson that doesn't hide anything when a person asks me a question.
i will even say negative things about myself or errors i commited.

Do You Ever Slip Back into JW auto mode?
by core in.
hearing news on tv about 'peace & security'.........seeing blood sausage in a store............ hearing / reading about hypocrisy exposed in 'worldly religions' .........do you have children at school and instantly react with the immediate no of jw think at every request re after school activities.
do these or other things cause yoiu to momentarily slip back to the thought controlled personality you had with its auto responses.....or have you been able to free yourself from these reactions?

I only give credit to my JW upbringing because I really can't think of another reason I would handle the situation like I do. The situation is this: I am constantly being tested with my honesty. I am either being given more money back than I should at the store and sometimes even at the bank. I have found several wallets too. My concience will not allow me to keep what isn't mine. One time (after I was df'd) I went to make a deposit and the bank teller not only gave me the correct deposit receipt, but she gave me the exact amount back in cash. I had put my paycheck in and was going to take out only $150.00 back in cash. It was a holiday weekend coming up and the lines were real long. I didn't bother counting the money until I got home. It was so tempting to keep the extra amount. I wasn't able to reach the bank teller for a couple of days. When I did call and tell them what happened, the bank teller was so thrilled that I called to return the money that she sent me a "thank you" card and flowers. My first thought was one of those replies "It is because of my religious upbringing that I live my life this way." JW or XJW;No matter how many bad things I've done since I left the org. I can not tolerate dishonesty when it comes to other people's money or property. I don't think it is in my nature to react that way because I always need more money. I believe it is because of my belief in God and that when he says "you will reap what you sew" and "do unto others as you would want them to do to you." There are benefits to living this way. I can sleep at night.

Questions about Jehovah's Witnesses that I need answers to
by the real truth ini'm not trying to offend anyone by asking questions, but i really want answers to my questions from jehovah's witnesses.
ok, i've been having a problem with john 1:1. how many gods are there?
the most famous distortion in the nwt is john 1:1. the nwt inserts the word "a" in front of the second god in this verse.

the real truth,
I'm sorry if this ticks you off, but I have a question about the scripture you quoted. John 1:1 says "In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." My question is this: If the Word IS God, why does the scripture say he was WITH God? How can you be WITH yourself; if indeed the KJ version is the correct one?
(Sybil, if you're out there, keep quiet. That isn't what I'm asking.)

I thought I would use something fun and sexy. I guess you could say Jessica Rabbit is my alter ego. In real life I could never have a bod' like that. (I guess with major plastic surgery I could.) I would love to walk in a room and turn every head like that. Plus she was a singer and got caught playing pattycake.....I'll just leave it at that. My bio pretty much covers it.

A little history on the Bible
by gumby init's always intresting to hear the answers you get from people about how and when the bible was formed.
many minds go only as far as believing it was simply a compilation of god ordained books that we have to this day.
below is just a small bit of information that many may not be familiar with.

Gumby,
Thanks for posting this information. Have you ever read the book "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey? He talks about a mathematical code that is hidden all throughout the bible fortelling future events such as the holocaust. Do you have any knowlege of this stuff? I am interested in learning more about it.

- First we have Sister Can't-carry-a-tune-in-a-bucket: Everytime we sang, she outsang us all. (Off key doesn't mean you're harmonizing lady! Besides, that's what karaoke bars are for.)
- Then we have Sister All-I-do-is-study: This one has a basic diet of twinkies, fried chicken and Dr. Peppers. Never buys anything new and gives 1 hr. comments to even the simplest paragraphs. She suffers from major penis envy and given the chance she would be happy to conduct any meeting or judicial hearing.
- Twenty minutes into the program arrives the Up-all-night Family: They are the only fun people in the Hall. They never miss a meeting, except when they are on another vacation, but are always running late because of the party they had the night before. (I miss them.)
- Then we have Sister I'm-a-virgin,-I-swear: You always know when she's cold and you could swear she flirts with your Dad and your Grandpa!
- Last but not least, Brother Rollin-in-dough: Never wears anything but designer suits. His wife has every hair in place and always dressed to kill. Their kids look miserable and if they were to actually smile, you wouldn't even recognize them.

How relieved are you now that your finally set free?
by micheal ini was thinking back to the time when i was in my "spiritual paradise" oh about 7 months ago and i can really remember just how unhappy most people really were.
most seemed so loaded down with "privledges" and "responsiblilities" that it just sucked the life out of them.
any spirit they may previously had had faded to mere a shell of their former selves.

you know almost like they were afraid they were going to catch something being out among the world. You can see the cult when you leave it! Glad I am gone !!
I know that look you are talking about. They just have this expression on thier face, especially when you see them away from the KH. I rarely ever noticed anyone really having a good belly laugh about anything. It's like constant "doom and the last days" on the brain. I enjoy just being alive and being able to have the freedom to choose where I go and who I REALLY want to hang out with. I don't know if it was just the particular Hall I went to but man there were some wierd people who attended the KH.
It's good to be free of having to put up with them just because they were JW's.

It feels good to get up on a Sunday morning, pour a cup of coffee and sit on my glider swing in the back yard and just enjoy the outdoors without having to put on a dress and heels to go and sit for two boring hours and here the same ol' crap I had to listen to for 35 years. My social life is a little more boring I guess, because usually we would go out to lunch with "friends" afterwards, that stuff I do miss. I am relieved to be free from living my life under a microscope, but the shunning from family and friends never ceases to amaze me. I don't think I will ever get over that.

WTS Addresses Child Abuse - er, kind of...
by iiz2cool inmy wife, who is intent on re-activating herself as a dub since i da'd myself, went to the convention this past weekend.
she showed me this new publication entitled "learn from the great teacher", and placed great emphasis on these two pages i scanned and am posting.
it makes a poor show of telling children what to do when confronted by a child abuser.

The society needs to look in the mirror on this one. Instead of scaring these kids with what could happen, they could take a step in the right direction when it comes to protecting these innocent children early on. Since they are experts at coming up with NEW ARRANGEMENTS, why can't they come out with a formal letter to all congregations that says "In all theocratic and social activities, children MUST be accompanied by more than one adult at all times. Whether it be during a bible study or even a trip to the store. I know that this wouldn't protect children in EVERY situation due to the fact that many are molested by family members, but what about making it a "new arrangement" that ANY adult witness should NOT be allowed to accompany ANY child without there being a second adult accompanying them in ANY situation, even during a bible study. So many of these molestations I have read about have happened during a bible study in the child's own bedroom. When I was a JW, it was standard policy that Elders should NOT visit a sister alone to give council. It was even frowned upon if a sister was seen working in field service with a brother alone in one car (if they weren't married). I would think children should be even more of a concern than an adult in that situation. Young couples who were dating were even supposed to have a chaperone when doing anything together, for God's sake! Yet an adult JW can conduct a bible study or go in field service alone with a child and no questions are ever asked or even thought about. I am surprised those old farts up in NY haven't thought of this one on their own. It wouldn't stop every abuse situation, but it could help prevent some. I doubt anything printed in a children's book is going to protect anyone's child. Whoever helped write that new book must not have children of their own.Just a thought.
